Preschool Teacher (Tokyo)
Learning Tree
|
|
Learning Tree International Kindergarten/Preschool in Tokyo is looking to
hire native English teachers with a qualification in Early Childhood
Education.
Our school is currently in its eighth year of operations. We have two branches
in Tokyo. We currently have 110 students attending kindergarten
regularly, and also around 80 older students coming to after school
classes. We also currently have thirteen non-Japanese teachers, but we
still need more. Our students are between the ages of 2 and 6 for
kindergarten, and up to 12 for after school classes. The workday is from
Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm with a one-hour break, and twice a month on
Saturdays, from 9:30am-12:30pm. Being an international school, about
half of our students are Japanese, the other half a mix of mainly
Indians, Koreans, Chinese, Singaporeans and other native English speakers.
You will be in charge of a class of the oldest kindergarten students (5-6 years old). Our curriculum is predominantly theme-based, with maths, art, music, and English speaking/reading/writing classes as well. The children also learn to dance the Hula and to play the Ukulele.
As well as being in charge of the oldest class, after a 1 hour lunch break you will be required to teach after-school classes. These are mainly English classes, but if you have a special skill you may be able to teach that (for example, we currently have an ex-professional dancer who teaches dance, a pianist who teaches piano etc.). If you have a creative talent that you can use to inspire the children to learn and grow with, please mention it!
More details are as follows:
* Full time position: 9am-6pm Mon-Fri (1 hour lunch break), 9:30-12:30 Sat (twice a month).
* Salary starts at 275,000/month.
* Minimum 1 year contract.
* MUST be a native English speaker.
* The children are very young. We need teachers who can lead the children, not people who let children walk all over them. A strong but caring personality is perfect.
* A furnished, ready-to-move-in share house (sharing a kitchen/bathroom with 2-3 others) close to the school is available for 80,000 yen per month, which includes electricity, gas, water and unlimited high speed internet. Of course, you may find your own accommodation if you prefer.
* The two branches of the school are located on one of the main subway lines of Tokyo.
To apply, please send your resume (with a photo) to recruitment@growing-trees.com. Please include details of your teaching qualifications and experience.
